My first year in Wichita, at Mayberry junior high, my teammates warned me when we went to play at Horace Mann. For good reason, we lost 34 to 20. They had a little guard who could jump out of the gym. That was Preston. They put it to us again as Freshman. Preston's brother Steve and Chester Finch we're on that Mann team, and I was glad when they showed up at West high when we were sophomores. Preston was quiet, a hard worker, and a great teammate. I always enjoyed playing with Preston, and his brother Steve. Preston could play any sport, and was very smooth. I was devastated when I heard of his passing. It always makes me sad. Once at a restaurant in Topeka, Preston asked the waitress if they had any sweet potato pie, and she said they didn't. I couldn't wait to try some, it's one of my favorites. I still run into his older brother Ricky at games, and we always have a few words remembering Preston.
