Daniel Scott Knudsen

30 Apr 1954 in Laurel, Nebraska - 10 Oct 2010 in Fort Collins, Colorado

Scott was born in Laurel, NE on April 30, 1954 to Knud and Marilyn Knudsen and grew up in South Dakota and Kansas, where he followed a career in computer science. He met Kay in Lincoln, NE and they were married in 1985 at Storybook Island park in Rapid City, SD. Scott and Kay lived in Rapid City for several years before moving to San Jose, CA for a job at Apple Computer. After a few years they returned to Rapid City and then moved to Colorado where they lived in the Boulder area and Colorado Springs before settling in Ft. Collins where he was a shuttle driver.

Scott was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was renowned for his love of fireworks and hunting crawdads with the kids. He was quick to tell a story and loved driving if only to enjoy the mountain and plains scenery. Scott had an affinity for numbers and would always note dates and birthdays based on the numerical digits. He wrote computer programs for a prime number generator and a graphic billiards game just for the challenge.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and his brothers, Kerry (Lee Ann) of Cheltenham, Ontario, Canada, Joel (Lori) of Wichita, KS and David (Ellen) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The family would like to thank the Poudre Valley Hospital - ICU staff for their compassionate care during Scott’s final days. Financial memorials may be made to any favorite nature or wildlife conservancy. If possible, the donation of blood or plasma at a local blood bank would honor Scott’s memory.
