Carolyn Hatcher (Gigstad)
David died on July 12, 1970 in a drowning accident, along with our classmate, Paul Bartlett and another man. They were in the Wichita Scuba Diving Club and went to a mine pit near Joplin, MO to practice. They all went down and 3 didn't come up. David was one of my very best friends and it took years for the hurt to become less intense. I still miss him. God rest your soul, Dave.

I remember David & Paul and the tragic accident that claimed their lives. My prayers continue to this day for their families.Julie Hurst (Wade)
David was a special friend of mine and learning of his missing and later death, has to be one of the saddest things I remember from my younger years. I was at our cabin on Table Rock Lake when I saw David's and Paul's faces across the TV screen on the nightly news. It just didn't seem real. Gone WAY too soon, dearest friend. RIP David.

I will never forget this accident that claimed their lives. Both were great people and far too young to die. I've thought of their families many times over the years.
