I don't know how many people knew, but Sterling was also talented musically. He played an early version of an electronic keyboard reminiscent of an accordion but it sounded like a Hammond -3 organ. He loved to play and experiment with that thing. I particularly enjoyed it when he would play the theme from Dr. Zhivago. I don't know what it was about that song, but I will always connect it to Sterling in my memories.
I also learned to water ski on Sterling’s family boat. Trips to the lake were always fun, and challenge. Sterling was an excellent Slalom (single ski) skier and was bound and determined to teach me how to do likewise. I think I did manage to get up on that single ski once or twice but he never gave up on trying. As I remember we also took that boat out on a couple of fun double dates
Though there are a lot of great memories with Sterling, perhaps my finest was being an Usher at his wedding. Even though he was an exceptionally upbeat person, I don't think I ever saw him as happy as on that day.
